Science Opens New Pathways for Fetal Health — Ultrasound & Doppler Play a Vital Role

A successful one-day CME and live workshop was organized by the Fetal Medicine Society Bihar Chapter at the auditorium of Darbhanga Medical College. The event focused on modern ultrasound techniques for safe screening of developing fetuses and the importance of detecting congenital birth defects.

Inauguration

The event was inaugurated by Darbhanga Medical College Principal Dr. U.C. Jha, Society of Fetal Medicine President Dr. Krishna Gopal, Senior Obstetrics & Gynaecology Specialist Dr. Bharat Prasad, FOGSI Local President Dr. Kumudini Jha, Head of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department Dr. Pooja Mahaseth, and Senior Paediatric Specialist Prof. Rizwana Haider, among others.

Expert Sessions

The speakers emphasized the importance of timely screening, regular follow-ups, and specialist consultation to improve maternal and fetal health outcomes. Key topics covered:

• Screening of 5-10 week and 11-14 week fetuses for genetic and congenital abnormalities
• The role of 4th and 5th month scanning in detecting organ-specific anomalies
• Advanced Doppler and ultrasound techniques for fetal assessment
• Post-pregnancy monitoring and management

Expert Panel

Dr. Krishna Gopal, Dr. Sarita Jha, Dr. Anusha Mimansa, and other experts shared their experiences using Doppler and ultrasound to identify fetal abnormalities. The latest research developments in this field were also presented.

A dedicated panel discussion was held covering months of pregnancy and various fetal anomalies, with in-depth deliberations including Dr. Madhukar Kumar, Dr. Anand Abhishek, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Bhavya Sareen, Dr. Aparajita Rastogi, and Dr. Kamod Jha.

Wide Participation

The event saw participation from gynaecologists, radiologists, ultrasonologists, and fetal medicine specialists from Darbhanga, Patna, Ara, Begusarai, Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, and Madhubani. A large number of fetal medicine specialists actively participated.
